Default Email Archiving - Outlook 2000

I have a customer that the PST files grow very quickly (3 months) and am trying to find a solution to maintain the files below the 2gb limit. I have divided the pst files into quarters by year ... I used archiving to pull the infomation by a certain date sending it to the respective file. However, the emails in the original folder are not being deleted .... any suggestions. I know that AutoArchive takes care of this however, I want to control when the emails are archived.

We are in the process of finding an enterprise solution but realistically it will be 6 months before it happens.

Once the files are archived it won't be that difficult to maintian. At the end of each quarter the user get a new pst file.

I am open to any suggestions. Anyone got any ideas?
