Default Viewing an ICS file in Calendar mode

I have imported my Google calendar using the private *.ics file. The import is fine, and it updates properly. The problem I have is finding a quick and convenient way to view the Calendar.

As I see it, Outlook necessarily stores the imported Calendar in the Internet Calendar folder. Therefore, (1) I can't use the Calendar icon to view it (in the Navigation icon), because this only shows calendars associated with the email accounts I import; (2) To see it, I have to adjust the Navigation icons so that the Folder icon is visible toward the top; (3) The Internet calendar is NOT selectable for the Outlook Today View.

Is all of this correct? If so, why is there an option when I first import the calendar to associate it with my email account? Why can't the incorporation be more intuitive/easy to use?
