Default Unique Advanced View Setting Question

Hello Outlook Masters,

First of all, thank you for being here and taking the time to help people. I am very excited about the possibilities of Advanced View Settings, but I can't seem to wrap my head around it and can't find specific tutorials that flesh out the functionality itself. I'm a social worker who helps people and I also try to not work 60 hours a week and go home to my family, so being very organized is very important to me. Here is my situation which others may relate to and the desired outcome. We are talking about Outlook 2010 Tasks which is perfect for my situation at work:

1) I have many due dates that set off a series of events. A social workers job is never done so there are priorities and categories (following gtd) that tell me if the work is at a computer, phone, office etc. Here's what I would like to see:

Start Date - today so I only see what supposed to be started today (or late if I didn't get to it yesterday. I would also like to see next week, 1 month from now etc, but have today's work be on top.

WITHIN TODAY - I would like to sort by category so all today's like categories are grouped together i.e. all phone calls, all computer work etc. I will also want to see priority flags but don't need to filter that as it seems that would throw everything off.

Does this make sense? I wish there was just a straightforward guide that could teach me how ADvanced View Settings for tasks works but I can't find it. I would much rather know how it works than have to ask people to fix my problem. You know....the whole teach a person to fish thing Hope this makes sense - thanks, everyone.
