Question Problems after moving Outlook 2007 to another computer

Hi Folks.

I need to move Outlook containing 10 different mail accounts to another computer.

I have foud various posts in all sorts of forums and support sites describing how to this. I am clear about the data files (*.pst) and the folder the come from and go to.

If I just copy the pst-files to the new computer, crate the accounts and link the created accounts to their correspondig pst-file, outlook starts downloading thousands of emails, that are already in the mail file. (problem with cut-off-date?) not a solution...

If I follow a different approach and also export/import the registry key containing all account information, then all accounts show in the account management, but for only two of ten I am asked for the password and only these two appear on the left as open files. I then have no way to link the other 8 accounts to their corresponding data file as outlook allows me to choose the file but does not save this change. so - not a solution either.

But - what is the solution? How is this done correctly?

Any idea welcome...!

I suppose you are using POP accounts?
Why not use IMAP, so that you do not have to transfer your mail as they stay on the mail server?
