Default Restore Outlook 2016 "ost" files

Received excellent advice about a quick way to save Outlook 2016 tasks, calendar, contact and email files by going to: file, acct settings, data files, open file location...then rt click & copy. Can then close outlook and paste to any folder - and/or One Drive. Great. QUESTION - the file has the correct number of bytes...but is named "ost", not pst". Concerned that if I need to restore file, I might have a problem since it is not pst?

Thanks to someone who can put my mind at ease.

AFAIK an ost file will not help you when you need a backup. It is a local copy of (some) of your items on the server.
To be sure use a pst file. here's how.
This will be a backup of which you know what is in it. Backing up in this manner is simply copy /paste to the pst file.

regards,
John
