Default Using nicknames to autofill email addresses

Hi, there are a few people in my organization that go by their nicknames. For example Jeffrey goes by JJ. Even though I edit his name in my contacts to JJ LASTNAME, I can't type in "JJ" to get his email to popup, which is mildly frustrating. And currently when his name shows up it is "LASTNAME, Jeffrey", instead of "JJ LASTNAME" (as I edited in my contact list).

Is there any way that I can change contacts to allow for "nicknames" so that when I type JJ his email address pops up then shows "JJ LASTNAME"?
