Default How to get all incoming mail to the same folder in Outlook 2016

Hi - I'm sure that some guru on here can help me. I have just installed Outlook 2016 and have set up my email using the imap settings. I notice that it is very different from what I was used to with POP3 accounts. For a start, it has created various folder trees. In addition to the Favourites tree, it has also created a new tree for each of the email address in the mail account list. First question - how do I get all incoming email to arrive into the same folder rather than to the addressee's folder (if you know what I mean) which I prefer and was the case under the POP3 system. Obviously, I would also like all sent items to go into the same Sent folder similarly.

The second anomaly is that a recent email to me was put into the inbox of the Favourites tree rather than in my own. Can anyone explain how that would happen?

I hope I have explained all this satisfactorily, and I would be grateful for any help anyone can give.

If you connect to your accounts using POP you can use a common folder. IMAP and Exchange Accounts are essentially links to the respective servers and Outlook treats them separately. The 'Favourites' folder contains copies of whatever folders you drag there. It's essentially a link to the same folder.

Thank you - that is very useful information. One further query - how does the Personal Folders tree fit into all this. I ask because, occasionally, email arrives in that one.
