Default Search feature

The search feature is not working properly in Outlook 2013. For example, when one searches for "Smith" they would receive a message that states, "We couldn't find what you were looking for.", but if you manually check under "S", the contact will be listed. However, it only affects a few specific people. Finally, this is not under my contacts, but a co-workers who is sharing their contacts, calendars, etc. with me.

I had those problems several times. Perhaps this article can help to solve it: Outlook Search. I finally gave up and changed my search software to Lookeen and it is running without problems.

Hi,

This problem may exist due to following reasons:

1.) If email contains a large sized attachment
2.) If Outlook data files are indexed incompletely
3.) If Add-Ins are not installed properly in Outlook
4.) If PST files are corrupted

To resolve this issue, you need to remove Outlook from index. Follow the below steps:

Start Outlook >> click File >> click Options
Click Search >> click Indexing Options >> click Modify
Deselect Microsoft Outlook >> click OK >> click Close

For further assistance, feel free to contact.

Thanks & Regards
Anjlua

Hi Anjlua,

your tip helped me when I search by name or text strings.

However I noticed that when I search by number like phone number, it takes forever to search and at the end it doesn't show the results.
Do you know how to fix it?

Also when searching starts the result from OLDER email to the LATEST emails.
Is any way to reverse the search from latest to oldest?

You help is very appreciated.

Thank You
Kind Regards,
Jon
