Cannot start Outlook?

I am a user of Outlook 2003 which I have successfully used since 2003. In the last 24 hours for no apparent reason I get an error message when trying to open Outlook which reads " Cannot start MS Outlook. The set of folders could not be opened. The server is not available"

Does anyone have any clues with this?

Loss of network connection possibly!

Server may be down ( or at least the server where you account is located)

are you in an office environment where other users are experiencing this issue?

are you a home user with an account set up to your internet provider?

I am a home user but in a 4 hour investigation with my ISP today they concluded that the Outlook programme on my PC was damaged, they never entertained that the problem might be at their end?
