Emails bouncing back with a 554 error
Hello everyone, I have been working to try and solve an issue with our mail server. our customers are recieving bounce back messages stating
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- <example@unabletorecieve.com> ----- Transcript of session follows ----- ... while talking to mail1.example.com <<< 554 mail1.example.com ... connection error: connection reset by peer/timeout I've done as much research as I can about this error, but nothing I can find even mentions the error we're recieving. We looked up our web server IP, and it showed we were on a blacklist for Backscatterer.com, though our admin said that this shouldn't be something we have to worry about. If anyone can provide any more insight to this issue I would greatly appriciate it. I will report here if we manage to solve the issue ourselves. ~Joshua Kahley |

Emails bouncing back with a 554 error
Hello Joshua,
I found a page on this error on Microsoft's official site, you can view it here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc957018.aspx Also, if you can provide the full error with the header information, it may help us troubleshoot. You can also paste the bounce message into this Parse tool, which can help you read the errors: http://www.inmotionhosting.com/suppo...ce-back-parser I hope this helps, -John-Paul |
