Gmail IMAP Outlook--can't get rid of All Mail etc
Outlook '07 + Win7 64 + Gmail
I'm new to having set up the referenced and find what seems to be an Outlook problem vs. a Gmail IMAP account. In Outlook, under this Gmail account are (in part) All Mail, Spam, Inbox and Junk Mail. Condition 1: If 2 new emails arrive and I open and read both emails in Inbox, All Mail remains lite up with the number 2. I go to All Mail and sometimes those 2 emails (this example) will (correctly) automatically then show as read. However sometimes not, requiring marking as read? If I've read these two emails in Inbox, then why aren't they automatically going read in All Mail? Condition 2: This is the absolute PITA. Assume for a moment those two emails initially viewed in Inbox are spam that is not automatically picked up by the Spam folder. I right click on each, block as spam and they disappear from the Inbox and go to Junk Mail. However, those same two files, even though I've correctly marked them as spam still appear as unread in All Mail. Here's where this gets super annoying. I then duplicate my past action and right click, move to spam for each of the two in All Mail. The two messages disappear as did the previous ones marked in Inbox to Junk Mail whereupon I empty the Junk Mail. Then, these same two spam emails (same date and time) appear again in All Mail as unread as if none of the preceding over occurred. Btw, I can go to the Gmail website and these 'returning to the All Mail as unread' spam emails do not appear on the website under either spam or junk mail. Is there a procedure that I'm not following correctly or is this a bug between Outlook and Gmail? Mark |
