Default how can outlook "remember" a previous written email recepient?

Hello

Using MS Outlook 2007.

Didn't know what to put in the subject line since I don't know the "official" name for this something that stopped to work.....

I write a lot of mail to the same people...so normally when I want to write an email to Bruce.Banner@... .com his mail address comes up by itself (hokus pokus**) when I start typing B....R... U.... etc

Suddenly this function stopped to work and I have to remember every mail adress (or use contacts)

I hope somebody understands what Im talking about.

I dont know if this is a function that can be enabled/disabled. What I know for sure is that I did not delete any cookies etc nor did I do any disk cleanup prior to this...

does anyone know how to get this function (?) back

regards
j

Hi Temuhin,

Go to Tools Option in Outlook > Options > Click on E-mail Options > Advance Email Options and click on the check box Suggest names while completing To, CC, and BCC fields. If the check box is already ticked then you will have to delete the NK2 file from C:\Documents and Settings\Your Profile Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\ there would be a file having the same name as your Outlook profile name usually "Outlook" which would have the extension .NK2. Try deleting the file. While deleting the file the outlook should be closed. Delete the file and then re-open the outlook and check. Let me know if this resolves the issue. Also if the issue is resolved then let me know which method worked the first one or the second one.

Hello Gregory,

Thanks for the reply. Neither of the methods helped solve the problem, but at least it gave me a hint to what might have happened...

I see from my original post that the problem description should have been different...It is not that the suggestion of names does not work at all, however, outlook only suggests recipients that I have written last week or so....like the long term memory have been lost.

The checkbox you mentioned was already checked. When I deleted the .NK2 file it seems like this "suggestion memory" was reset again...

So I assume what has happened originally is that this NK2 file has been deleted somehow a couple of weeks ago for some reason I do not know (im on a domain so I do not have 100% control over what happens on my computer.)

Thanks anyway.
regards
t.
