Default Can't log in to app even with account

I have a MS account. I just started using OneNote to see if it would work for what I need. I am running Windows 7 Pro and the latest release of OneNote. When I launch the OneNote app on Windows, and enter my email to log in, I get the prompt "my-email-address isn't in our system" when I tab to the password field. So I can't log in via the app. BUT - if I open OneNote's web interface (using the same log in credentials I try on the app) I get in fine and if I open a notebook in the web insterface and I click the EDIT IN ONE NOTE link, the OneNote Windows app launches and I get in just fine. What's going on? Why can't I directly log into the app? If I have to always open the web interface BEFORE I can open the app, this program is going into the trash.
