Default CNTL+X doesn't work

The shortcut key method for cutting and copying selected text
doesn't work in my Word.
The other shortcuts (CNTL+C, CNTL+V etc.) do work all right.

Also, CNTL+X does work in Excel; only in Word it doesn't.

My OS is Windows 7 and my Office version is 2007

Hi
This sounds like you have a Macro with a shortcut of Ctrl+X assigned to it. It may be that the Macro is not actually doing anything which is why you may be getting this issue. Have a look at your macros and delete any that you dont need.
Good luck.

Thank you, OTPM, for your help.
In fact, I have one macro of my own creation, but
- it is attached to one particular Word document only
- and the shortcut for it is CNTL+<, not CNTL+X.

In the list of Word Commands (to be seen with another option of Viewing Madros) I spot one that seems suspect, by the name of it; I mean that I might have created it unawares in the process of writing the one mentionned above; but, as is the case for all items in that list,
- its contents cannot be inspected,
- there's no way of knowing if the shortcut for it is CNTL+X,
- and, above all, there's no way of deleting it!

Anyway, thanks again for trying to help with a tip that sure seems likely.

Hi
Under Word Commands you WILL find a Ctrl+X as it is the standard shortcut for "Cut" in MS Word. And uses are not permitted to delete system commands.
