Default ERROR code 00xc0000142

After some sort of hack, I have damaged or missing files that are preventing ALL Office apps from opening, giving the above error code. Have run scannow, no issues, Malware scans, etc. no fix. Help! Need to work.. Raff

Have you tried repairing the Office installation (via Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair)?

If repairing Office doesn't work ....... try reseting your PC to an earlier time when Office worked correctly. If that still does not solve the problem then try re installing Office. If the problem still persist then get another copy of Office from a friend and install it after reseting the PC Settings to Factory settings.

Resetting the PC is unwarranted at that stage. There are other things to try before doing that. Moreover, and far more significantly, you've omitted to inform the OP that following your advice would wipe out all user-installed applications, data files, and settings.
