Default removing fonts from Word

I searched this topic and although it would seem to be a frequent need by most, I didn't get any useful hits. So, how do you remove all those unwanted fonts in Mac Word 2011? I would like to have a font menu that only lists the half dozen or so that I use not the several hundred that I will never. Style sheets offer some control but why should all that stuff be there in the first place? I can't even find where on the hard drive some of these things are stored to delete them that way. Am I the only user that wants control of fonts display?

This really isn't a Word question. Rather it relates to how to use your Mac.

You should use FontBook (located in Applications/Utilities folder) to manage your fonts. Do note, though, that fonts apply system-wide and deleting one deletes it from all applications.

Oh I guess I should have said, tried that. Some of the fonts listed in Word are not shown in the Library -> Font folder not in the subfolder MS Font. Using Font Book does not show these fonts and disabling them in Font Book seems to have no effect on Word even after reboot. may example is 'Dead Kansas' which a spotlight search can't find, is not listed in library fonts, is not shown in font book, and in general seems to be the Zombi file for the Zombi font. There are other fonts like this like Hebrew Scholar. I am really the only one out there who cares about this?

That might suggest a problem with your Mac's fonts. I suggest asking on a specialised Mac forum (e.g. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macstart?).
