Exclamation How to produce a second series in a line graph

I am a light user of Excel but moderately competent with computers! I am using Windows 10 with Excel 2016.

I have created a line chart with values showing on the left hand vertical axis and dates along the bottom horizontal axis. I have been struggling with trying to add a second series of values to the same chart. The second range of values are different to the first series so I would like to show these on the right hand axis while using the same dates of the horizontal axis.

How do I achieve this? The 'Help' pages have confused me more than helped, possibly because I don't know the 'language' and, therefore, I am probably asking the wrong questions.

To regular Excel users this should be a 'walk in the park' but has me stumped! Any help/advice gratefully received

Default How to produce a second series in a line graph

Thanks Jeffrey. I've tried to make sense from the links you kindly supplied, one is from pre-2016 Excel and with the other I cannot follow the steps as I can't find exactly what it refers to as it goes through the various steps. Perhaps I'm not as computer literate as I thought!!

As another way of posing my question I have attached the file I am trying to amend. It is a file for logging my Blood/Sugar Tests as I am diabetic. As you will see, I show the various blood tests without problem against the date axis. I would like to include 'Weight' as well as it will be interesting to see if the diet I am now applying has a direct effect in lowering my Blood/Glucose readings. A visual rendition of my progress on a chart my well help me keep to my regime!

I have been trying to create a second axis on the right of the chart using data from the 'Weight' column probably set between 99 and 106 and showing in column format.

Any other ideas? I have attached the file in question although as I look at this post I can't see any evidence of it being attached, so, fingers crossed.

WOW! That is exactly what I want. How did you achieve it, given I want to bring up to date a previous and following years.

I knew it would be a 'walk in the park' for someone who knows but to me it was beyond my comprehension.

Many thanks for your help.

Don

You're welcome Don and glad this is something for you to work with.

I highlighted A1:G10

Insert >> Charts >> 2D Line

Once the chart is created, I right clicked on the Weight series >> Format Data Series >> Series Options >> Plot Series On >> Secondary Axis

Now I just formatted all the series that I don't want as a line into something else

For the weight series >> right click >> Change Series Chart Type >> Clustered Column

It would be worth now doing a search for Dynamic Ranges

With using dynamic ranges you could now keep all of your data on one tab and then cycle all the data through one chart.

Let me know if you require anymore help
