Default Uninstalling & Re-installing Office 2013

Back on April 18, 2014 I had issues with Outlook 2013, so a Technical Support person remote into my Desktop computer to get my Outlook 2013 operational.

Part of his resolution was to uninstall and reinstall Office 2013. I am now having issues with another application used to back up my Outlook files and this vendor is telling me I need to uninstall and reinstall Office 2013 to resolve an issue with their product. This vendor is also telling me that it appears I have had both the 32-bit version and 64-bit version of Office 2013 installed on my computer at some point. I’m assuming the technical support person who previously worked on my computer to get my Outlook running did this. In any event, this current vendor is telling me I need to uninstall Office 2013 and then re-install the 32-bit version.

In reviewing files folder structure on my computer, this is what I see…

Program Files
Microsoft Office 15
ClientX64
Data
Packagemainifests
Packagesunrisepolicies
Root [this appears to be were Office programs reside]

Microsoft Office 15.old
Root

Program Files (x86)
Microsoft Office
Office 15 [only 4 files listed in this folder dated 3/3/14]

Microsoft Office 15.old [created by technical support person]
Data

Microsoft Office.old [created by technical support person]
Office15 [this folder contains no files]

I’m prepared to uninstall Office and reinstall the 32-bit version. Before I did this, I had some questions…

  1. By doing this uninstall, will I lose any of my Office/Outlook configuration information?
2. After doing the Office 2013 uninstall, I assume I can delete the following Folders/Sub-folders without any repercussions…
a. Program Files\Microsoft Office 15.old
b. Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office
c. Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office 15.old
d. Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office.old

3. Do I leave “Program Files\Microsoft Office 15” intact since this is where Office (32-bit) will get re-installed?
