Default Can Office 2013 use my existing Office 2003 documents and emails?

Like a lot of people I am trying to decide which way to go to upgrade from Office 2003 Basic Edition 32bit. I think the one I want is Office 2013 Home and Business as it has Word, Excel, Outlook etc. What want to know but have not be able to find out through lots of Google searches is this. Will the install of Office 2013 delete all my Word, Excel, and Outlook files? Can the new Office 2013 use all my existing files and email things?

If I uninstall Office 2003 will it delete all my Word, Excel, Outlook contacts, emails etc?

Upgrading Office doesn't ordinarily result in any data loss. Even so, you should be keeping regular backups of anything you value.

Installing Office 2013 shouldn't lose you any Word or Excel documents, however there is a possibility that your Outlook data file may get overwritten if it's stored in the default location.

Check out Moving Your Outlook Data File and follow the instructions to move your data file into your 'My Documents' folder, once you have done this, you can install Outlook 2013 and point it to the new location for your data file.

Note - This doesn't carry over your email account settings - make sure you know what they are and set them up again in Outlook 2013.

HTH

Unless something goes wrong, upgrading does not erase Outlook data files, even when stored in the default location. In any event, if they've been backed up (as they should be), restoring to that location is as easy (and possibly easier) than trying to redirect Outlook to a new location without having it erase the files there... Neither should any existing Outlook settings be deleted.

So I think what I am reading here is that if I install a license of my Office 2013 over my Office 2010, I won't lose my Outlook PST? I bought the 5 User license and downloaded from the web, installed it on two new and clean computers but I am guessing that if I install it over Office 2010 it will recognize I have Office 2010 and ask me if I want to upgrade?

When you install Office 2013 over 2010, you'll have the option of upgrading everything to Office 2013, or installing Office 2013 alongside Office 2010. Except for Outlook, you can have both versions installed. With Outlook, you can either retain the Office 2010 version or upgrade it to 2013. If you upgrade Outlook to 2013, your PST files and any other settings will be imported into Outlook 2013.
