Default how do I change the language in Office 2010

I recently bought a used Toshiba Satellite laptop from a woman from Germany. It had Windows Vista, which I upgraded to Windows 7.

All Microsoft Office programs are in German. I have been able to change spell check to English, but not the menus, dialogs, etc., in spite of doing many searches on Google. The steps described in the answers I have found don't completely match the dialog choices I get.

When I open Microsoft Office, two of the choices I get are Microsoft Office 60 Day Trial - Online, and Re-Install Microsoft Office 60 Day Trial. I don't whether or not those choices are related to the problem I have.

Thank you for any help and suggestions.

Tom

PS I also posted this in the Excel forum, since Word and Excel are the 2 programs I use.

To change the display language in menus and dialog boxes, you have to purchase an Office 2010 language pack. Go to http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/...0?cdid=en%2Dus.

Thanks Stefan,

Can you tell me how I can determine if the woman I bought the computer from purchased a language pack to convert Office 2010 to German, or if bought a German version of Office?

Tom

Hi healingcoach,

I see you've posted essentially the same question regarding Excel. I've deleted that thread as it's essentially the same issue - how to change the Office language. I'm also moving this thread to the Office forum (and renaming it) for the same reason.

Please don't post questions about the same issue in multiple forums.

You can tell by looking at the list of installed programs if there is a language pack installed. Also, if you have an English version with a German language pack, you should be able to change the language back to English.
