Office 365 or Office 2010
Hi, I currently have a 32bit pc running Vista and using Office 2007 which I would like to upgrade shortly but in the meantime, I have purchased a new pc running Windows 8 and need to decide which office product to purchase.
I use word/excel/powerpoint/publisher & OneNote, all to the degree where I use macros and personally designed templates. My dilema is when searching MS and other references, it does not make it clear if I were to upgrade to Office 365, whether all this is still possible to use "off-line" and whether full personalisation will still be available to me? Whilst wanting to keep up-to-date with new programs, I do not want to only use them "on-line" nor loose functionality - if someone can clearly advise, I'd be really grateful |

Although Office 365 is supposed to allow off-line usage (an internet connection is required about once/month for validation), I have seen a number of posts in other forums from people having difficulty with this. That said, with the Office 365/2013 editions, you have a wide range of licensing options to choose from, including licences that give you the traditional 'off-line' installation.

Really need to resolve this please
Thankyou Macropod and sorry but this exactly the answer I get everywhere and no one is able to give me an absolute answer!
I have no intention of spending good money upgrading to an unsuitable version for my needs but am beginning to lose the will to live trying to get what I consider to be an answer to a reasonable question????? My problem is I have built specific documents/spreadsheets for my invoicing needs and certainly don't want to go backwards. The new PC which I'm moving onto is now running Windows 8.1 successfully and I now need to upgrade to a newer Office package - if anyone out there can help, I'd be really grateful? |

I don't know what 'absolute' answer you'd expect. Things don't always work the way they're supposed to and people occasionally run into difficulties. That's life. Have you never had a problem with Windows/Office before this? If so, consider yourself truly blessed!
Perhaps you should ask yourself what features the later versions have that you really need. If Office 2007 does everything you need, then why upgrade at all? Office 2007 will quite happily run on Windows 8 and, at the very least, you can reinstall Office 2007 on the new system. The only caveat is that, if you've already used up all your license allowance for how many systems you can install it on, you'll need to uninstall it from at least one such system and, possibly, re-activate the product by phone.

OK....
Paul - I hear what you say and yes over years of computing, I of course have had many problems (therefore not 'blessed' at all).
I am purely trying to minimise any potentials by asking for an informed answer by any users out there - then I can pick through their responses and gather the best way to move forward for me rather than going through yet another steep learning curve |
