Mail Merge type is not being retained as ‘letter’ when document copied from one location to another
We have a lot of letters we need to copy from one folder to another but every time we do the mail merge changes from ‘Letter’ to ‘Word doc’ meaning we have to undo this for each individual document. Anyone know how to prevent this?

Copying, of itself, won't change the file type. Evidently, there is more than a simple copy via Windows Explorer going on.

Its just a standard copy and paste from folder to folder but consistently changing the type.

I just noticed however after I copy it to the new folder then click enable editing and click X to close the 'Find Data Source' message the title of the document changes to 'Document 1' however the contents is the same.

In that case, the problem has nothing to do with the copying and everything to do with you killing off the mailmerge at that point.
