merge 2q with 2q, then 2q with 2r, then merge 2s plus same text in each then same for rows 3,4,5,6,
Hi
I am trying to automate a safari supper spreadsheet to print labels telling participants where they are headed next. So, for a starter, the people named in q2 are hosting, the people in r&S 2 are visiting. The peolpe in q3 are hosting those in R&S 3 etc. I need to print off slips to put in envelopes to tell people where they are going. S = starter, M = main and D = dessert. Can't seem to get it right. spreadsheet attached. I would be very grateful for some help on this one as this is he stage that usually gets fouled up doing things manually! Many thanks Eddie |

It's not clear that you need a mailmerge for this. Regardless, you need to do some more work on your Excel workbook, first. For starters, you have some people attending multiple venues for the same course and others missing out on that course. Formulae can also be used to show which venue each person is attending for a given course - assuming they aren't attending multiple venues for the same course!
Try the attached.

Many thanks for this.
One question, and I may be being dense, why the coloured backgrounds on some? Ta Eddie |

I coloured them to highlight the fact they're duplicates!

Still not there.
Hi
I've tried to get further. I have sorted out the data problems in columns Q, R and S. and I've understood what your use of functions is doing, but for example, in the attached Helen Chris should be going to address 1 for starter and address 5 for mains. I hope you are able to help. Many thanks Eddie |

Somehow, you've managed to make a mess of the formulae. For example, you now have:
=INDEX($C$1:$C$13,MATCH($V2,Q$1:Q$13,0)) in W2 instead of: =INDEX($C$1:$C$13,MATCH($V2,R$1:R$13,0)) In order words, your formulae are referencing one column to the left of where they should be. Simply fix the referencing in W2, then copy the formula down & across to Y13. You still have duplicates & missing entries in Column R & S...
