Default field code question

I know this is easier than I am making it...I need to merge in a money field into a Word template. I would like it to format with the $ in front of the number if the amount is greater than zero, but if the amount is zero or less I'd like it to just be blank. Is there a way to do that?

I would read up on conditional formatting in Excel, then link your info in the Word document.

Thanks for the advice...I'm not following you completely, though...do you mean in the Word doc link to an excel spreadsheet? I have some Word experience but I am not all that advanced at it. The template I am setting up will be a template that uses a data source created by another software program. The output is basically a flat text file. The data is merged automatically by the software program, so I would not be able to introduce Excel into the equation.

I see. Well, what I was getting at, was using the formatting possibilities in the data source application to determine the data to be inserted. I regret that I am a novice in VBA programming (Word's language), so I don't know how to write a field that would do what you want. I suspect that it can be done with something called switches, which can operate somewhat like conditional formatting, but I don't know for sure. If you do get a solution, I'd love to see it. Sorry I can ;t be of more assistance.
