Default Mutliple copies 167 print as one document

I am looking to print 167 copies of a document (30 pp)
I've set it to collate and staple.

When I run the merge and print it attempts to print and staple all 167 copies as one document.

I've done everything with the Printer (iRC Canon 2550) but take it apart (which would no doubt void the warranty).

Any ideas, suggestions (other than printing each document individually) or thoughts.

TIA.

Utterly frustrated in Ontario

....

John

Hi John,

The issue here is that your printer can't tell where each letter ends. You basically have two choices for automated collation & stapling:
1. Merge to a single file for editing, then use a macro to send each letter to the printer as a print job; or
2. Use a macro to drive the merge, send each record's merged output directly to the printer as a separate print job.

Paul,

Thank you for your reply.

What you suggest was what I feared would be the answer, and given that I have no idea how to 'construct' macro's I've had to get it done the hard way - printed the document, sorted and stapled individually. (yes - its all extraneous information)

John

Hi John,

A number of kind folk have already posted macros for this on various websites. See, for example 'Split a merged document to the printer with each 'letter' treated as a separate print task' at: http://www.gmayor.com/individual_merge_letters.htm

Doug,

It is always a pleasure learning from and dealing with a person, who is knowledgeable and is willing to share that knowledge of the subject.

Thank you.

John
