Default Count with multiple conditions

I created an excel spreadsheet for a Survivor pool at work

I enter a name in a cell (sheet 2, A1) that corresponds to the person on redemption island, in this case Fransesca (see attached)

I need to count how many times players names appear in the row and in the column matching the value in A1 (Fransesca)

for example, in my attachment, Clair appears twice in the column, and Janine appears twice, 1 in the column and 1 in the row. I have a list on Sheet 2

It may work, the problem is I have the chart on a different sheet, and when I make the adjustments the answers don't all work out, some do, but others don't

Please see attached,

You'll notice that some are correct and others are not?

Thank you for your assistance on this, I am already learning a lot

Ah, sorry if that confused you. I have a habit of breaking long formulas into multiple lines (ALT+ENTER) at logical points so that I find them easier to read.
Code:
=IF(ISNUMBER(MATCH($K$2,$B$1:$H$1,0)),COUNTIF(INDEX($B$2:$H$10,,MATCH($K$2,$B$1:$H$1,0)),J3))
    +IF(ISNUMBER(MATCH($K$2,$A$2:$A$10,0)),COUNTIF(INDEX($B$2:$H$10,MATCH($K$2,$A$2:$A$10,0),0),J3))
Glad you've got it sorted now.
