Graphs: how to stop displaying a value
When creating a graph, I have the following problem:
My graph shows the values for the individual months. However, for the last month (December) the value is still 0 since the month is not over. The value is calculated by multiplying the number of items with the price. Since no items have been registered, the value will aways be 0 as long as the month is not over. If I make my graph including the month of December, there is a sharp decline in December (zero). Of course i can exclude the month of december in my range, but that is a waste of time as I will have to include it again at the end of December. Is there a way to tell Excel not to display a zero in a graph? Or an alternative? |

Hi,
here is a solution: Assume the cells used for the chart has the following formula: = C3*D3 Then change this into =if(C3=0,NA(),;C3*D3) This will cause a "missing"-sign in the december cell, and the graph will not show this value at all. I hope I got it right above with translation of commands from my Swedish Excel version into English. Kind regards Bjorn |

Thanks Bjorn,
I had to edit the formula a bit since the Swedish version is a bit different from the Belgian one that we use. In our Belgian version the correct formula is If(C3=0;#N/A;C3*D3) Furthermore, although the line will no longer be visible in the graph, there will still be an ugly "#N/A" visible in my data. This I remove by using a Conditional formatting : Formula is =ISERROR(B2) and say that the format to use is a white background. That way the white background will hide the data. Thanks again for your help |
