Can't see my recent files
Hi all,
I use to open excel files from the list of "recent files" under the "Excel" line at the start button. They disappeared yesterday and I can't bring them back. I use win7 with excel2007. Help please.... 10x, Avner. |

Have you checked Excel Options>Advanced>Display? This will tell Excel the number of recently used documents to display. If there's a number entered, check to see if other MRU lists from other applications are affected. If they are, it could be your anti-virus software deleting them. I know I can set mine to delete those lists if I chose to do so. If Excel is the only application affected, then I'm not sure what happened.

I'm at a loss then. The only other thing I could see to try would be to use the system restore to go back. But I'm not sure that would restore your MRU's or if it would even be worth such a measure. If you open a file today and Excel doesn't show it as an MRU, it may have become corrupted somehow. I can't think of anything else, sorry.

I am using Office 2010 with Windows 7. A strange quirk has developed in the recent files list of Excel...the recent files on the Excel app line of the the start menu now only shows workbooks with the Excel 2007 file extension of .xls. Files with Excel 2010 extension of .xlsx no longer show up in Excel's recent files on the start menu (they do show up on the Windows/Start Menu recent files list, however). This seems to be happening only with Excel; the other Office apps have no probelm displaying the Office 2010 file forlmats.
Any ideas on what's going on here and how to correct it? Thanks in advance. Paul |

If you depend so much on recent files, in the future, maybe it is useful for you to use windows side bar, with this gadget from microsoft: http://gallery.live.com/liveItemDeta...b-c9c37d0adaf2. It is a beter way to organize your recent files, but Applies to office 2007, maybe you can find it for office 2010.
