Strange behavior of Excel file with ODBC query in MS Cloud SharePoint
Lately we upgraded to MS Office 2016/Office365. The license includes also SharePoint.
I myself haven't used Office in cloud jet. Today I was contacted by user, who uploaded an Excel report file into Sharepoint, and was surprised with its behavior. The report file has an ODBC query to another Excel workbook, which is on shared resource in our LAN. When the report workbook in cloud is opened, this source workbook is opened too - by default as read-only, but whenever it is activated first time, it opts to make it to read-write. Is it normal behavior? Is there a way to skip the opening of source workbook? The idea at start was, that users get the data they need to see, and they can't edit it. It worked OK, until both workbooks were in LAN. |
