Hi XOR
I am just using this way now. If J10 or INPUT value is empty will return as empty instead of empty tag. Is this possible? thanks ganesang |

@ArviLaanemets
Really, considering what OP wrote in #13. |

OK! I omitted this - was only browsing later posts!
It is even possible to do without hidden columns - using dynamic names instead. But having up to 100 dynamic names defined, I'm not sure what will happen with workbook speed! |

I have added the function to get INPUT value in cell J5 from another Sheet 1.
If there is no value in the Sheet 1 in particular cell, then returns J5 as empty. So, in this case your function is put the empty code like <caget no = ""/>. When trying to delete the function from J5 the empty tag is disappeared. Is there any other way to retain the formula? in cell J5 without put empty code |

Or this!
To add reference levels, you have to add names strng#, text# and txtl# with according level number, and add according components to concantenate in name strng. With this approach, there will be no need for helper columns, but you have to check it out yourself with large number of levels and source rows. Btw, I checked it out with formula "=IF(1=1,"","") in column A of Sheet1 - the name strng returns empty string when formula in source cell returns empty string. Update! When adding/editing dynamic names strng#, text# and txtl#, you MUST have some cell (on any sheet) - with same row number as the one you put into name formula - to be active! Otherwise references will be wrong (to wrong row)! |
