Default select from list and allow entry not in list


Hi All, trying to use data validation to select from a list of values for cell entry, this works ok. How can I also allow the cell to take a value not in the list without an error or other prompt telling me I can't do that or flagging an error msg in the cell.

In the Data Validation dialogue, uncheck the box for "Show error alert after invalid data is entered"
