Default Template comes with "comments" that I can't remove

Hi, all,
I downloaded an Excel template from Microsoft called "billing statement of account" and want to modify it. It has helpful prompts like "Enter Company Name in this cell." Now that I've personalized it, I don't need these prompts. Plus I'm going to send the statement to my customer and he doesn't need to see them. However, these apparently aren't comments because when I right-click on a cell with a prompt, there is an "Insert Comment" option but no "Delete Comment" option. See screenshot below. Any suggestions of what these prompts are and how I can remove them?

.
Did you right click on the comment itself ?

Also, please provide a link / url to the download from MS so we can take a look at it.

Thanks for your reply. Nothing happens when I right-click on the prompt message.
To find this template, open Excel, click on File, and then New. Then in the "Search for Online Templates" box, type "billing statement of account." The search yields two documents. Both have the prompts that I can't get rid of.

Sorry ... I have never seen that type of comment before. I can't delete them either BUT you could move the comment box to a far location of the sheet so they are not viewable.

Maybe someone else knows how to delete them.

Hi, Xor,

Do I have to select a cell with a prompt before I do that? I'm trying to follow your directions and this is what I did:
Selected cell with prompt.
Pressed F5.
Clicked on Special...
Clicked on Data Validation. All will automatically be selected.
Clicked OK.

And that does nothing. Where did I go wrong? There was no option to clear all data validation. Please see attached screenshot.

Select a cell with the unwanted message.
Ribbon: Data tab, Data Tools section, Data Validation dropdown, choose Data Validation…
In the Input Message tab of the dialogue box, either untick the Show input message when cell is selected tickbox, or delete the text in the Input Message: field.
Click OK
That way, you won't delete other aspects of any data validation.

Default How to remove data validation input prompts

Xor,

That term "data validation" set me on the right course. I was able to remove several "input prompts" at the same time by doing this:
  1. Select cells that have input prompts that you want to remove.
  2. Select the Data tab.
  3. Find the Data Tools section of the Data menu ribbon and click on the down arrow next to Data Validation.
  4. Select Data Validation. You may get a message that says "The section contains more than one type of validation. Erase current settings and continue?"
  5. Click OK and you will get a Data Validation dialog box.
  6. Uncheck "Show input message when cell is selected."
  7. Click OK and voilá! No more input messages!
Thanks for the lead, Xor!
