Default Creating a shopping list, where dublicates are automatically added

I am in charge of planning the menu for a camp full of kids, for 8 days. It's a lot of recipes, and a lot of food!

I have made a spread sheet with the men and all the ingredients needed for the recipes for all of the days etc., but I want to make an easy shopping list.

It's easy to copy all the listed ingredients and their amounts into one long list, but adding together dublicates is very difficult. Is there a way I can make excel read the item name, and automatically add together the quantaty? Otherwise things like salt, pepper, onion, milk are going to be on the list a thousand times, and I'll lose my overview of how much is bought.

I have made a very simplified excel sheet of the situation, attached.

It is very important that the sheet stays as interactive as possible, as the number of kids, and their various intolorances etc. keeps changing, plus we may want to change some ingredients and quantaties pr kid.

I feel like there should be an easy solution, I'm just not quite sure what to search for!
Hope someone out there can help

(hope it is uploaded in the correct format)

That looks great! So, if I am reading it right, it is saying to add together anything from H and M column, if the label in the J or O column matches what I have already labled in the shopping list (column C). So this is deffinitely the perfect way to get it to add the list up!

However, can this also work before I have any info in the C column? So the formula know that it should EITHER put the item as a new item in column C, OR add it's value to an already existing post?

@wasmabo
Hi and welcome to the board

Please do not quote entire posts unnecessarily. They clutter the thread and make it hard to read.
Thank you

@decio

I am struggleing when I try to implement it in my actual document.
When I test it in the test document it works fine, and I can even add an extra day. But once I try to put it in the 'real' document, it adds up to zero, even though I have double checked that the spelling is the same. Is there some formatting or etc. I have to be aware of?

Attached is the actual document, as well as the 3 day version of the example. The reason I use an example post, is that real document is not in english, and contains notes etc, so sorry if it is very confusing to look at!

@pecoflyer
Sorry, will keep it in mind!

Note that this is different from the original, so the formula changes, confers

I'm using Google Translator because I do not speak or write English
