I use excel 2007



I have a dropdown menu, created with the values of some cells in my sheet (i.e.: A1, A11, A21, A31).

I'd like, when one of those values is selected, to show only a particular cell range.

examples:
if the cell value A11 is selected, i would like to show the cells range A11, Z20
if the cell value A31 is selected, i would like to show the cells range A31, Z40

the other cells to be hidden...

do you know it is possible? and how?

I add an example file to show what i need:

When i choose a value from the dropdown menu in cell AB1 (the values listed are the ones in yellow in column A) i'd like to show only the corresponding cells (higlighted with different colours)

if I select asterisk I'd like to show all the cells

How about using slicers?

First, you would have to convert column A to copy down dates to fill all rows.

Then you add column Headers (you can hide this row)

Convert range to Table

Then Insert Slicer based on Date in column A.

Now you just click the date you want and presto.

To get all dates you click the little "funnel with X through it" icon
