Default Xlr-->xls?

My wife is providing part time assistance to a local Elk's club. The particular computer that is used for her purpose at the club has Works installed and a body of data files generated by Works with the XLR extension. She need to be able to take files home for continued work but we have Office 2003 and 2007. Our version(s) of Excel do not offer the ability to SaveAs XLR which mean they will not load an XLR file.

I saw mention on another forum that a user simply changed the file extension from XLR to XLS but that sounds to good to be true.

Any suggestions for the conversion?

Thanks,

Mark

Thanks--I just looked at the application and since it allows you to 'save as' an xls file, the question is now moot.

Btw, the document # you referred to comes back negative: 'There are no documents that match your search for "271080'
