Question Pivot Table's fields

Hi
I'm quite an amateur in Excel, using pivot tables first time, and I've got such a problem: I have a table with 'date' column, and I want to report ONLY records of this month for example. I click 'date' field in pivot menu -> date filters -> this month. And then I have to activate this field(it shows in each record and group) to have filtered data but that's what I don't want to do. When I create report table of current month, I don't want to see that each record is in fact in current month because I know it, as I filter it with data filter. When I use 'report filter' it's wrong because it cannot use filter data, but only simple equality filter (2009-10-12, 2009-11-10, not all in year 2009 for example).

Thanks for any answers.
