Data validation the other way round?
Hi,
there is a list where employees enter data about internal damages done by forklifts. In this, there is a column where they are to enter a name if it is sure who was driving - if not, they are to just leave it empty. There are experts, however, who write something like "known" or "unknown" or whatever in that column. => Thus my question: Can I implement some kind of data_validation so that people can only enter some real name, maybe based on the criterion that a real name has 2 or more segments? (I don't know what else could be the criterion, but any ideas are welcome). Thanks a lot! Best regards, Officer_Bierschnitt |

Hi,
there is nothing on that page that I can use. I can neither create a list of the names of all the employees in the company - well, I could, but that would be quite an effort - nor can I create a list of the entries that I do not want, the creativity of the people out there is endless But then - a list of all the people drawn from our HR_system is probably the only good solution because even if I could implement a rule that an entry must have 2 or more segments, they would sometimes only write the surname or write it all in one go (no BLANKs) or whatever. Thanks a lot! Best regards, Officer_Bierschnitt |

To do that, and say the cell with the Data validation is cell A1, then in the DV dialog -> Settings tab -> Allow: Custom -> Formula: =FIND(" ",A1)
