One formula required to copy information from YTD spreadsheet onto individual monthly spreadsheets.
Hi
I currently have a workbook containing thirteen sheets; one cumulative, YTD sheet and twelve monthly sheets that copy the information from the YTD sheet. I need to take monthly meter readings and enter them into a spreadhseet. My customer wants a monthly report for each machine. With each monthly report I have a formula to take the previous month's figures from the YTD reading to obtain the current month's reading. Eg., My cumulative spreadsheet will show Aug 100, September 250, October 325 and so September's monthly spreadsheet will show as 150, October's as 75 and so on. I have to change the formula for each monthly spreadsheet so it looks at the correct cell on the cumulative spreadsheet. My question is, is there a formula I could enter that will not require changing each month? Thank you. |

There certainly are such formulae, but we'd need to see a sample workbook containing both YTD data and the monthly report do give specific advice. Can you attach a workbook to a post with some representative data (delete anything sensitive)? You do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab at the bottom of this screen.

Hi Paul
Many thanks for your response and apologies for the delay in getting back to you. Attached is a copy of the workbook. Any assistance you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Jo |

It's not clear which sheet(s) the data entry is done on. Assuming it's done on the 'Calculations' sheet, see attached. I had to modify that sheet's layout to give August the same layout as the other months, but the result is that the individual monthly data can be derived using a single formula on each of the monthly sheets, and the quarterly data can likewise be derived using a single formula for any month.

Hi Paul
Thank you so much for this answer. It has helped me no end (although, being a complete novice, I have no idea how your formula works, but works it does) Thank you once again. Jo |
