New to the forum so i apologize if this is in the wrong section but I'm having a little trouble with formulas. Basically column A are months but one month may be used more than once. Columns C-H are questions answered with a Y or N. I need a formula that will add the Y's in a row for each listed under various months. Below is a basic example of what my sheet looks like. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

JAN N Y Y N Y Y
FEB N N N N N N
JAN Y N N Y Y N
MAR N N Y N Y Y

Welcome...so for the above, do you want 2,4,0,3,3 or are all JANs to be combined?

For the former, enter the following formula in the first row after the last column of answers. So if the data start in row 1 and there are seven columns as above:

=countif(B1:G1,"Y")

Copy it down the list.

Then if you want to combine all JANs, you would make another list elsewhere with each month, say in column J. Then in K you would have:

=SUMIF(A:A,J1,H:H)
