Trying to import specific data from one spreadsheet to another, without matching rows
Hello:
I am trying to import data from one spreadsheet (Issues) to create tasks in another spreadsheet under specific titles. I have attached a sample spreadsheet. EG: Issues spreadsheet lists various action items in random order under headings of "policy" "training" "IT" "Comms". I want all items under "policy" to import into the task spreadsheet for policy. I have been able to bring the data into the task spreadsheet using this formula: =IF('Issue List'!A:A="Policy",'Issue List'!C:C,"") The problem is that it keeps each issue item brought over in the same row it was written in the issue spreadsheet (so if it was written in row 4, it comes over into row 4 and leaves the previous rows blank.). Then, if I try to insert a row to create the tasks, the actual issue being addressed disappears. I need to be able to have the issue import into the next available row in the task spreadsheet so that I can then breakdown the issue into however many tasks will be required and assign the resulting tasks to different people. This would involve inserting whatever number of rows needed to detail each specific task without the issue being referred to disappearing. I sure hope someone is able to assist me with this. I've read LOOKUP, but that's beyond my capability in excel. Thanks in advance! |
