Vlookup Help
Hi Guys,
I am in some serious need of some help. I'm creating a report with 2 tabs. On the second tab I have a Vlookup under "Was it emailed." It should check the first tab to find a matching invoice number(or doc number). My formula just isn't working to give me a yes or a no. Any ideas would be very much appreciated! |

On my machine it is giving a yes-or-no answer; that is, it's giving a Yes answer about 1213387, and about 1234567 as well (which I entered just to be sure).
The problem is that 1213387 is in 'Automate Que'!I:I, but 1234567 isn't, so the two should be giving different answers. I figured it out: In 'Automate Que'!I:I the invoice field is numeric; in 'Sales Invoices'!E:E they're formatted as text. Forget what you typed into the second sheet, check the formatting on it. Excel is looking for a character string in a list of numbers, and not finding a match. You'll need to make them match—make the second sheet numeric in col E, would be my guess, but at any rate they have to be the same in both places. |

Thanks Bob, didn't seem to change anything. Still not receiving the correct "yes or no" I believe it could be a formula issue... I shouldn't be getting a "yes" no matter what you type in the invoice field on the second tab.

You didn't ask a question, so maybe I should leave you alone 'til you do. But what the heck: What "didn't seem to change anything"? What (exactly) did you do? You gotta be specific around here or no one will know what information might be helpful to you.
