making correlation matrix
In the old excel you could install an add in that would allow constructing Pearson correlation matrices on large blocks of data. Don't see it in excel 2010 - why am I not surprised? Anyone know if it's still an option and where it is hidden? I HAVE to be able to do these matrices or excel if of little use to me. The correlation function they have where you compare two data series is useless to me. I need to do correlations between 34 elements on 500+ samples. It's easy in excel 2003.

Hi
Have a look at this link which may help you: http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/excel-q...on-matrix.html Good luck. Tony |

correl matrix
So the answer seems to be that there is no longer a built in function in excel that will make a correlation matrix. I looked at that link and can't imagine how I'd ever get a forumula written that would deal with 34 elements over hundreds of samples. I can't tell at all how the formula mrexcel wrote works - no clue. Not a mathematician. The matrices I make in excel2003 are 34x34 and stretch across an 11x17 sheet and it only takes a couple of minutes to make them regardless of how many samples I have.

So, what's the deal here? Does no on know if excel 2010 will do a large correlation matrix or does no one want to say that it won't? I just want to know. If it won't then I just need to keep 2003 installed so I can do them. Surely someone must know the answer to this question.
